Sealing Testing for Glass Bottle Packaging

Because of its high transparency, good sealing performance and characteristics such as no pollution and low cost, glass bottle packaging is favored by food enterprises, especially canned production enterprises and beverage production enterprises. In general, the glass bottles for food and drinks are sealed with mouth iron seal. Then, whether the combination of metal cover with glass container, if the sealing performance is qualified, or how to detect the overall sealing of glass container… Those are very much concerned by manufacturers and consumers. Hereinafter, Labthink will give a brief introduction to MFY-01 Leak Tester for glass container sealing tests.

1. Put an appropriate amount of distilled water in the vacuum chamber, fix the sample on the sample fixture, and then immerse it in the distilled water. At this time, the distance between the tip of the sample and the water surface shall not be less than 25mm. Two or more specimens can be tested at a time, as long as the leakage at any part of the specimens are observed during the test.

2. Cover the sealing cover of the vacuum chamber, turn off the exhaust tube valve, and then open the vacuum tube valve to vacuum the vacuum chamber. Adjust the vacuum degree at 30 ~ 60 kPa to one of the following values: 20, 30, 60, 90kPa, etc. Stop the vacuum at a certain vacuum degree and keep the vacuum for 30S. The adjusted vacuum value is determined according to the characteristics of the specimens (such as the packaging materials used, sealing conditions, etc.) or the provisions of the relevant product standards. However, the specimen should not burst or crack at the seal due to the internal and external pressure difference of the ambassador sample.

3. Observe the escape of the sample gas by visual inspection to determine the overall sealing performance of the glass container(s). Observe the leakage of the specimen(s) during vacuum retention, depending on five successive bubbles. A single isolated bubble is not considered as specimen leakage.

4. Open the inlet tube valve, make the vacuum chamber connected with the atmosphere, open the seal cover, remove the specimen(s), wipe the water on specimen surface, and open to check whether there is water infiltration inside the specimen(s). Labthink C660B Leak Tester will automatically fill the gas after test without human intervention.

Labthink C660B Leak Tester can not only detect sealing performance of glass containers, but also that of plastic packaging bags, bottles, tubes, cans, boxes and other containers and metal cans , for many domestic users procurement, with a high market rate, products with stable and reliable quality which is recognized by the industry. The key components of the pneumatic system are all imported products, with stable performance and extremely reliable operation. Perfect functional setting and various vacuum degrees can meet the requirements of various test methods stipulated in the national standards. At the same time, the instrument automatically fills the pressure for the vacuum tank after the test, without the need to manually open the pressure reducing valve to fill the vacuum tank, which is easy to operate.
